The Tikkun Institute believes that there is strength in our diversity. Below is a list of some of the organizations which are our sisters in spirit, working toward a more spiritually grounded, just, and sustainable world in their own unique ways.

American Friends Service Committee

The American Friends Service Committee carries out service, development, social justice, and peace programs throughout the world. Founded by Quakers in 1917 to provide conscientious objectors with an opportunity to aid civilian war victims, AFSC's work attracts the support and partnership of people of many races, religions, and cultures. AFSC's work is based on the Quaker belief in the worth of every person and faith in the power of love to overcome violence and injustice.

Association for Contemporary Catholic Life

The Association for Contemporary Catholic Life ( Contemporary Catholics ) is a gathering of individuals who choose to see the world and to orient their lives from the perspective taught by Jesus. Not the Jesus who is all to often portrayed today as a judgmental, rule-enforcing, sole-dispensing arbiter of God s exclusive Club, but rather the real Jesus who lived life to the hilt, rejoicing in its purpose, acknowledging the perfection of God s plan, loving other people (including people of other faiths), and seeing God in everything.

Brit Tzedek v'Shalom

Brit Tzedek v'Shalom, the Jewish Alliance for Justice and Peace, is a national organization of American Jews deeply committed to Israel's well-being through the achievement of a negotiated settlement to the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Through education, advocacy, local chapter activities, and work with the media, BTv'S generates greater dialogue within the American Jewish community in order to direct U.S. foreign policy toward the realization of a just peace.

Buddhist Peace Fellowship

The Buddhist Peace Fellowship serves as a catalyst and agent for socially engaged Buddhism. Its aim is to help beings liberate themselves from the suffering that manifests in individuals, relationships, institutions, and social systems. BPF's programs, publications, and practice groups link Buddhist teachings of wisdom and compassion with progressive social change.

Call to Action

Call to Action (CTA) is a Roman Catholic movement working for equality and justice within the Catholic Church and society at large. An independent national organization of over 25,000 people and 40 local organizations, CTA believes that the Spirit of God is at work in the whole church, not just in its appointed leaders. CTA promotes its vision of a progressive, engaged Catholicism through its acclaimed annual conferences, award-winning publications, extensive network of regional groups and joint programs with other Catholic renewal organizations.

Call to Renewal

Call to Renewal is a multidenominational faith-based movement dedicated to ending poverty and hunger in the United States.

Crosswalk America

CrossWalk America stands for progressive Christianity - where faith and action are oriented around the three great loves identified by Jesus: love of God, love of neighbor, love of self. CWA's objectives are to:

Raise national awareness of the progressive Christian movement through a 2,500 mile Walk Across America in 2006.

Strengthen the movement by providing organizations ways to use The Walk to further their goals and objectives.

Dramatically extend and deepen a national support network for individuals and faith-based organizations.

Change the course of Christianity in America toward a more loving, vital, and just tomorrow.

Faithful America

FaithfulAmerica.org is an electronic advocacy network sponsored by the National Council of Churches USA. It enables people of all faiths to study issues of public concern and to make their opinions known to members of Congress, federal and state government officials, and other elected leaders.

Interfaith Alliance

Founded in 1994 by an interfaith group of religious leaders, the Interfaith Alliance has over 150,000 members who work to promote interfaith cooperation around shared religious values to strengthen the public s commitment to the American values of civic participation, freedom of religion, diversity, and civility in public discourse and to encourage the active involvement of people of faith in the nation s political life.

Muslim Peace Fellowship

The Muslim Peace Fellowship (Ansar as-Salam) is a gathering of peace and justice-oriented Muslims of all backgrounds who are dedicated to making the beauty of Islam evident in the world. It encourages a deeper commitment to peace both among its members and on behalf of all Muslims.

National Council of Churches USA

The NCC is the leading organization for ecumenical cooperation in the United States, a joint venture of 36 faith groups, including Protestant, Anglican, and Orthodox communions, historic Peace churches, and African-American denominations. Together, they encompass more than 100,000 local congregations and 45 million adherents. They work together in the NCC on issues of peace, poverty, the environment, human rights, Bible translation, public policy, and -- through Church World Service -- humanitarian efforts around the world.

Pace e Bene

Pace e Bene researches the cultural roots of violence and through educational programs and advocacy projects counter the systemic roots of violence and the attitudes and behaviors that nurture such violence.

Pace e Bene's programs and projects incorporate nonviolent actions aligned with gospel values that seek justice for the poor and oppressed who suffer most from cultural violence.

Religious Institute on Sexual Morality, Justice, and Healing

The Religious Institute develops and supports a network of clergy, and other religious leaders committed to sexual justice, helps religious institutions give positive education about sexuality in line with their own traditions, and educates the public and policymakers about this positive religious vision of sexual morality, justice, and healing.

Res Publica

Res Publica, launched in 2003, is a group of young public sector professionals dedicated to promoting good governance, virtuous civic cultures and deliberative public discourse globally.

The Rockridge Institute

Founded by George Lakoff, The Rockridge Institute seeks to reframe the public debate, and progressive values in moral terms. It reframes issues in order to broaden the appeal of progressive positions, and seeks common ground and messaging among groups working for positive change.

The Shalom Center

Founded by Rabbi Arthur Waskow, part of ALEPH - The Alliance for Jewish Renewal (http://www.aleph.org/)-- dedicated to the Jewish people's sacred purpose of partnership with the Divine in the inseparable tasks of healing the world and healing our hearts.

ALEPH and the Shalom Center organizes and nurtures communities, develops leadership, creates liturgical and scholarly resources, and works for social and environmental justice.

Sojourners

Sojourners is a Christian ministry whose mission is to proclaim and practice the biblical call to integrate spiritual renewal and social justice. It publishes the widely-read Sojourners magazine as well as brings people together to foster greater understanding and spiritual development.

Unitarian Universalist Association

Unitarian Universalism is a liberal, non-creedal religious movement. With historical roots in the Jewish and Christian traditions, contemporary Unitarian Universalism now embraces a wide range of spiritual teachings and practices from many global faiths. Unitarian Universalists are committed to supporting each individual's "free and responsible search for truth and meaning" as well as promoting interfaith understanding and working toward a more just world community.

Zen Peacemaker Family

The ZPF is a worldwide community of Zen practitioners wishing to making peace in our lives and in the world around us. The ZPF recognizes that we are interdependent and that each act of peacemaking touches all of us, and supports Zen peacemaking models and programs based on the principles of giving up fixed ideas about ourselves and the universe, bearing witness to the joy and suffering of the world, and loving actions towards ourselves and others.
