The Alliance for Compassionate Education (ACE) is an umbrella organization tying together the efforts of numerous organizations and individuals committed to teaching authenticity, compassion, and caring.  By providing networks and events for sharing and support, ACE will identify and implement educational practices that are aligned with the values of peace and social justice.

Character Education Partnership www.character.org/

CEP focuses on defining and encouraging effective practices and approaches to quality character education and provides a forum for the exchange of ideas. CEP's membership includes the nation's leading education organizations and its board of directors is made up of corporate leaders and leading experts in the field of character education. Character education is a national movement encouraging schools to create environments that foster ethical, responsible, and caring young people. It is the intentional, proactive effort by schools, districts, and states to instill in their students important core, ethical values that we all share such as caring, honesty, fairness, responsibility, and respect for self and others. Effective good character education is comprehensive; it is integrated into all aspect of classroom life, including academic subjects and infused throughout the school day in all areas of the school (playing field, cafeteria, hallways, school busses, etc.). It provides long-term solutions that address moral, ethical, and academic issues that are of growing concern about our society and the safety of our schools.

Center for Nonviolent Communication http://cnvc.org/

A global organization helping people connect compassionately with themselves and one another through Nonviolent Communication.  Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is sometimes referred to as compassionate communication. Its purpose is to strengthen our ability to inspire compassion from others and to respond compassionately to others and to ourselves. NVC guides us to reframe how we express ourselves and hear others by focusing our consciousness on what we are observing, feeling, needing, and requesting.  Their website includes how to teach and learn NVC.

ESR makes teaching social responsibility a core practice in education so that young people develop the convictions and skills to shape a safe, sustainable, democratic, and just world. ESR works with teachers to help students develop social skills, emotional competencies, and qualities of character that increase interpersonal effectiveness, and reduce intolerance and aggressive, anti-social behavior; helps schools create safe, caring, respectful, and disciplined learning environments that promote healthy development and academic success for all students; and helps educators respond effectively to local, national, and international crises related to interpersonal and systemic violence, intolerance, and global conflicts and war.

National Coalition of Education Activists www.nceaonline.org/

NCEA is a multiracial membership organization that unites parents, teachers, child advocates, and union and community activists working to improve public education.  NCEA believes that public education advocacy must be connected to broader struggles for social justice, equality, and democracy.  NCEA's mission is to support activists' efforts to address issues of race, class, and inequity in public education.
